October 2016

October 2016 Hilton Cares joined the  Hilton School District and several community agencies recently to sponsor the Ninth Annual Make a Difference Day. The largest national day of helping others through volunteerism.  Make a Difference Day is always held the fourth Saturday in October.

Hilton Cares new Little Free Library is now up and running!  Built by Merton Williams Tech Class students, and purchased  by Hilton Cares, an organization dedicated to projects that impact the health and well being of children in the Hilton School District, the library offers free books to the community.

Hilton Cares also helped collect and distribute 200  gently used coats, hats and mittens to community members in need. Coats can be obtained for free at the Coalition of Churches’ Coat Closer located at Hilton Bible Baptist Church.

Thank You!

feature_637_storyOur organization is called “Hilton Cares” because we represent a compassionate community, and we in turn give back to this community by helping families in the Hilton Central School District. And last night proved once again that indeed, Hilton Cares.

A great time was had by all at our first annual Rock the Vineyard event. Generously donated prizes were collected over the past few weeks and awarded throughout the evening to lucky ticket holders. An abundance of delicious food was provided, as were wines, beer, and our signature Sangria; all prepared especially for us by Mayer’s Lake Ontario Winery. We even enjoyed homemade desserts baked by Hilton Care’s own Suzanne Pilon! The soundtrack to our evening was supplied by The Blues Poseurs, a phenomenal group of musicians who kept us tapping our toes and singing along all night.

If you came out to our event, we’d love to hear about what your favorite part of the evening was. To our friends, families, and supporters near and far who helped make this event a success, THANK YOU!

If you have pictures of the event, please tag @hiltoncares on Facebook, we’d love to see them!

Hilton Cares to Sponsor Local 5K for FA Event

On May 2, 2015, local Hilton resident Mary Ann Lana is hosting a 5K for FA in honor of her son, Eli Lana. Hilton Cares is a proud sponsor of this event.

MAP_7222sm Eli Lana, who is ten years old, has Fanconi anemia. Fanconi anemia (FA) is a rare, inherited cancer-prone disease that often leads to leukemia, bone marrow failure, and physical abnormalities. Eli has already gone through a bone marrow transplant to restore his immune system and has had several surgeries. Because of FA’s link to cancer, Fanconi anemia research benefits everyone, not just those who’ve been diagnosed with FA. We’ve all been touched by cancer, and FA research furthers the advancement of treatments. We pray Eli will never need those treatments, but the reality is that because of FA, he’s 500-700 times more likely to develop cancer, and at an early age.

Proceeds from the 5K for FA will be donated to the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund and donations are tax deductible. You can learn more about this organization at:
